Care Answered is a patient advocacy and care coordination company in New York, founded in 2014 by CEO Nicole Christensen, a board-certified patient advocate and author of the book From Crisis to Calm. The firm helps older adults and their families work through the healthcare system, especially when care needs are complicated. Its work includes assessing home care needs now and in the future, applying for New York Community Medicaid and the NHTD and TBI waiver programs, advocating for adequate home care hours, using long-term care insurance benefits, and coordinating dementia care. Advocates attend doctor visits and hospital discharge meetings, push for a safe discharge home or to a rehab or nursing facility, and help with assisted living placement. They also review medical bills, appeal insurance denials and explain coverage. Meetings can take place at home, at an office or at a doctor's office, and the first consultation is free.
