Care2U brings emergency room and hospital-level treatment to patients at home, for illnesses that cannot wait for an office visit but are not 911 emergencies. The company was started by emergency physicians, and Dr. Kevin G. Munjal serves as Chief Medical Officer. Every visit pairs a clinician at the bedside with an ER or hospital physician on video. The team can give IV fluids and antibiotics, run rapid lab tests, take X-rays and ultrasounds, and provide oxygen in the home, and it can often admit a patient at home or arrange a hospital transfer when needed. Common reasons for a visit include urinary and kidney infections, pneumonia, heart failure and COPD flare-ups, dehydration, sudden confusion, skin infections and minor injuries. Same-day visits are available seven days a week with no referral, and family members can take part. Care2U bills insurance and serves New York City, Long Island, Westchester and Putnam.
