Gurwin Healthcare System
About
Gurwin Healthcare System is a nonprofit senior care organization on a campus in Commack that offers housing and health services for older adults across Nassau and Suffolk counties. Families can choose independent living at Fountaingate Gardens, a life plan community for adults 62 and older, or assisted living at the Fay J. Lindner Residences, which offers apartments and studios with meals, activities and optional wellness support. On the health care side, Gurwin Jewish Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Commack and Island Nursing and Rehab Center in Holtsville provide short-term rehabilitation and long-term skilled nursing. Specialty programs include memory care, respiratory care, palliative and hospice care, respite stays and an on-site dialysis center. Gurwin also runs adult day programs and home care with aides, companions and skilled services. Founded in 1988, the system is led by President and CEO Stuart B. Almer.
